well have decided for the time being that my website over at spanglefish is now going to be a site dedicated to step by step fly tying for of course pike as well as all sorts of predatory fish , i really just need to take some time out for myself and get back into enjoying what i do which is fly tying as a hobby and if i can help somebody along the way to catch there first fish on a home made fly then brillient my job is done .
theres far to many money grabbing tossers in the world and i dont want to be part of that i just want to fish and tie flys so please jump over to my website
www.spanglefish.com/pikeandpredatorfishingflys
to see what im up to , i will try to add a new step by step every week or mabey even a couple if i get the time
i will still have the fly tying cd for sale this basiclly allows me to buy materials hence the cheap price millionaire me er no thanks

bullet flies
was in my local Orvis store the other day and noticed they had some really small sea bass flies made to look like small sand eels , now i was looking at this fly and thought that would be nice ramped up to pike fly size so out came the 4/0 hooks and these are the result of my first attempt at a monster version of said sand eel fly , now these flies are about 4 and a half inch's longs and are mostly buck tail with a soft body/head made from loon soft head , now I'm pretty sure from looking at them that they will catch fish but I'm pretty sure they will cast like a bullet as well (hence the name) all i need to do i think is refine them a bit
i do that quite a lot ill see something like a sea bass or salt water fly and think if i change certain eliminates of that fly it would make a great fly for pike so its always worth having a look around and think outside the box
if you click on the picture you also get a close up look

deep water thoughts
im off for a 2 dayer in june on a boat which requires the flys to be pretty much dragged on the deck in 20/25 ft of water and really you want to be getting your fly down into the zone quite fast so uber fast sink lines is the name of the game but you still need your fly to be hard on the bottom as well so this is what i came up with , the flys without the metal heads have lead wire on the hook shank as well as dumbell eyes , i also wetted 2 of the flies to make sure the profile was going to be right
back to big flies
